Schools & colleges
Places with a real apron, not only a landing page.
These are well-known academies and aviation universities. Links go to official sites. Always confirm current ATO approval, aircraft, and cadet nationality rules before you send money.
School of the month · Paid placement
This month is open.
One approved academy at the top of this page. Name, a short brief, official link. Labelled paid — not an editorial pick. Includes one post on the founder’s Facebook page.
Emirates Flight Training Academy
Dubai South, UAE
Emirates-backed ATPL from zero hours, Boeing-linked courseware, dual GCAA/EASA ATO. Closest structured path if Emirates is the target — still not a guaranteed job.
Official site
Etihad Aviation Training
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Etihad's ATO for pilots, cabin crew, and airport staff. Cadet flying phases have been delivered with European partners such as FTEJerez.
Official site
Oman Aviation Academy
Oman
EASA-approved frozen ATPL in Oman with CAA Oman recognition. Year-round flying weather and a local option for GCC-based students.
Official site
Qatar Aeronautical Academy
Doha, Qatar
Historic Gulf civil-aviation college (now academy). ATPL pathway with a published transfer route into Embry-Riddle degrees.
Official site
Fujairah Aviation Academy
Fujairah, UAE
GCAA-approved PPL through CPL and engineering courses. Often a more accessible entry than the flag-carrier academies.
Official site
Air Arabia Academy
Sharjah, UAE
MPL airline-pilot programme tied to Air Arabia. Multi-national intakes, a bond, and A320-family line flying as the pitch — read the contract.
Official site
Skyline Aviation Academy
Sharjah, UAE
GCAA flying school used by self-funded students who want UAE hours without a flag-carrier price tag. Verify current fleet and approval.
Official site
ATP Flight School
Nationwide, USA
Largest US airline-oriented school. Fast-track from zero to commercial/CFI, then instructor hours toward ATP. Airline partnerships, not a job contract.
Official site
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Florida & Arizona, USA
The name airlines know. Degree plus FAA flight training — longer and costlier, stronger if you want a bachelor's on the CV.
Official site
University of North Dakota Aerospace
Grand Forks, USA
One of the largest collegiate fleets in the world. Cold-weather flying is a feature, not a bug — it builds instrument discipline.
Official site
Purdue University Aviation
West Lafayette, USA
Big-ten university plus a professional flight major. Useful if you want a US degree with a recognised aviation school attached.
Official site
Acron Aviation Academy
Florida, USA (and UK / India programmes)
Former L3Harris Airline Academy. FAA, UK CAA, DGCA, and JCAB pathways under one roof — check which campus matches your licence goal.
Official site
CAE
Phoenix, Madrid, Brussels, Gondia, and more
The simulator company that also runs ab-initio academies and airline cadet pipelines. Strong airline placement history; selection is real.
Official site
FTEJerez
Jerez, Spain
Spanish ATPL school used by multiple airline cadet schemes, including Etihad phases. 300+ flying days a year is the pitch.
Official site
BAA Training
Vilnius and international bases
EASA ATO with ab-initio, type rating, and APS MCC. Often priced below Western Europe for the same licence.
Official site
Lufthansa Aviation Training
Germany and European bases
Lufthansa Group training organisation. Cadet and type-rating culture is airline-strict from day one.
Official site
PIA Training Centre
Karachi, Pakistan
Pakistan International's historic training centre. Confirm current ab-initio intake and PCAA approvals rather than assuming a standing cadet class.
Official site
Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi
Fursatganj, India
India's national flying academy. Competitive entry, DGCA CPL, and a known name on a South-Asian CV.
Official site
Karachi Aero Club
Karachi, Pakistan
Historic PCAA club with an integrated CPL/IR course. Dedicated students quote 9–12 months; the authority allows two years. Confirm current hour rates.
Official site
Rawalpindi Flying Club
Rawalpindi, Pakistan
Northern PCAA training option. New courses advertise through the year — verify aircraft and instructor numbers on a visit, not a flyer.
Official site
Askari Flying Academy
Pakistan
PCAA-oriented academy advertising PPL through CPL on a Cessna fleet. As with every Pakistani school, check the live approval list before a deposit.
Official site
Flight Training Adelaide
Adelaide & Toowoomba, Australia
Long-standing IndiGo cadet partner. Australian visas, housing, and a DGCA CPL pathway — price the whole year abroad, not only tuition.
Official site
Universities
Degree plus flying.
A bachelor’s is not required for a CPL. It is required by some cadet schemes and it is useful if you ever leave the line. These colleges combine a recognised degree with structured flight training.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Aeronautical Science / professional flight degrees in Daytona Beach and Prescott.
University of North Dakota — John D. Odegard School
Commercial aviation, ATM, UAS, and a very large training fleet.
Purdue Polytechnic Aviation
Professional flight and aeronautical engineering technology.
Qatar Aeronautical Academy
Diploma and ATPL training with an Embry-Riddle transfer pathway.
Emirates Aviation University
Dubai-based aviation degrees alongside the Emirates training ecosystem.
Florida Institute of Technology — College of Aeronautics
FAA Part 141 flight training married to a STEM university.
Air University — Institute of Avionics & Aeronautics
Pakistani aviation-adjacent degrees. Flying still happens at a PCAA club — the degree is not the licence.
Walk away when
Red flags.
- A guaranteed airline job written into a brochure but not into a named operator contract.
- Pressure to pay the full course this week to 'hold a slot'.
- A fleet that exists only in renderings. Count aircraft on the line.
- No visible ATO / Part 141 / national approval on a regulator list.
- Instructors who cannot show you first-time pass rates in writing.
- A 'cadet programme' that is just a CPL shop using an airline's logo without being a listed partner.
On the visit
Ask these, in writing.
- What is the current approved training organisation number, and where is it on the CAA site?
- How many aircraft are dispatchable today, not in the brochure?
- What is the first-time pass rate for PPL, IR, and CPL in the last 12 months?
- What extra hour rate applies after the package — wet, dual, solo, night, multi?
- Who examines the skill test — in-house or an outside examiner?
- What happens to my money if I fail a phase or the medical lapses?
